Want to have some fun, but find time as your enemy? Then host a buffet bash that friends would remember throughout the coming year!! This is what happened on 28th August 2009, when our account geared up for the celebrations. It all started with one of our teams , enjoying potluck within the themselves to celebrate the occasion of Dussera. The idea was really attractive as it provided the satisfaction of good home-made food and the advantage of enjoying a single knit group. It was then decided that the idea of potluck celebration will be extended to the entire ODC during the next occasion which was Diwali.
It was a good opportunity for all of us to come together as a single team to make this event memorable. But it was still a challenge to coordinate with the entire 90 odd members to make the event a big success. As with any type of entertainment, the trick to hosting a successful buffet is to plan ahead, keep it simple and have a good time. So was the story of this POTLUCK celebration. SPOCs were identified from within each team to coordinate and get the menu rolling out. Considering things like strategic locations of tables, prior approvals had been obtained from the Hospitality team to make use of the food court for organizing this event. On D-Day the entire ODC gathered in near the food court to enjoy the big picture. It took some time for the tables and chairs to be rearranged and the food items to be displayed in the proper order. With the delivery head engaging the team in a lively game of Dumb Charades prior to the start of the event, the organizers ensured that the food items and the salads (which were cut then and there) were in place and the sumptuous buffet was kicked off to start. With a very long queue to tantalize their taste buds, we had a three course lunch with a range of salads and starters, phulkas and curry along with varieties of rice for the main course, sweets and ice cream for the dessert, just to be topped up with a maghai pan!!
The entire team then had an enjoyable lunch and was joined by the senior delivery head, who had taken a great liking to this novel idea and came up the ODC to thank and commend on the efforts put in by the team. He mentioned that our account was one of the few teams who could pull off such a memorable, massive and innovative lunch party.
Like the glory that was Greece and the grandeur that was Rome, the enthusiasm that was shown by each member of the ODC while the potluck was in the making – is unique and commendable. Varying textures, colours, shapes, heights and placement of food all added to the festivity. Kudos to the entire team!
